Thinking about changing the timing belt on a Defender 2.5 diesel, turbodiesel, or Defender / Discovery / Range Rover 200TDi? Don't even think about trying it without one of these.
The biggest problem you will face is trying to get the crank pulley nut undone, and then tightening it again at the end of the job. This nut is done up to between 200 and 250 lb ft and Loctited for good measure. This tool bolts to the vibration damper on the front of the crank and then rests on the front axle or chassis rail, securely locking the crank while you attack the nut with the biggest breaker bar you can find. Can also be used if the engine is out of the vehicle (as shown in the photo). Complete with securing bolts, washers and full instructions.
As an added bonus, the same tool will also lock the gearbox output and differential pinion flanges on most Land Rover gearboxes and axles, making it easy to undo the securing nut when changing oil seals. These nuts can be very hard to shift, especially on Salisbury rear axles and gearboxes which are out of the vehicle.
This tool will fit any 200TDi engine, and any 2.5 NA or TD (11J, 12J, 19J) where the front V-pulley is secured to the vibration damper with four M8 bolts. It will NOT fit very early 2.5s with the one piece pulley and damper, and it will not fit the 300TDi. Precision laser cut from 8mm steel, black painted finish. Made exclusively for Glencoyne 4x4, not available anywhere else.
Please note that the breaker bar and socket shown in one of the photos are NOT included with this item.
