As fitted to the Discovery, the 200TDi engine has a slightly different bellhousing stud pattern to the Series or Defender (pre TDi). It also has four long bolts which pass through the flywheel housing and clamp it to the stiffener between the block and sump. These are very important in preventing oil leaks. Many people omit them, bolt the Series or Defender gearbox to the Disco 200TDi engine with a few missing studs, then wonder why it leaks oil.
We can take your flywheel housing, drill and tap it for the correct stud pattern to fit either Series or LT77 Defender gearbox, and counterbore the four bottom bolt holes to take long Allen bolts. We fit a new crankshaft rear oil seal and return the flywheel housing to you complete with new bellhousing nuts and spring washers, and of course the four long Allen bolts.
Normal turnaround time is 2-3 days from the time we receive your flywheel housing. You should pack it carefully for sending. Please do not remove the old crankshaft oil seal or any of the studs, dowels etc yourself. We MUST have your old flywheel housing in a suitable condition for reworking - we do not have a stock of spare flywheel housings.
We offer a choice of two crankshaft oil seals (Bearmach or OEM) and can supply the housing to block gasket if required. Early engines did not have this gasket, but for these engines it is recommended that you fit the gasket and fill the circular groove in the back of the housing with RTV sealant. Later flywheel housings do not have this groove and can be fitted 'dry'.
