Comprehensive timing belt kit for Defender 300 TDi, 2495cc, 1994-98. Engine codes 16L, 23L.
Kit includes OEM quality timing belt, idler and tensioner, gaskets for timing cover, timing case to block (in case you break a bolt and need to remove the timing case to extract it). Crankshaft front inner and outer seals and 'O' ring, camshaft seal, crankshaft pulley key.
Everything you need to do the job properly.
NOTE CAREFULLY:
There are two options for the type of tensioner and idler. Land Rover changed the design during production. Vehicles with VIN number from VA117354 upwards will require the later type. Vehicles with VIN number up to VA117353 were fitted at the factory with the earlier type but may have been upgraded to the later type. Dealers were instructed to paint a yellow square on the left hand end of the timing case to denote vehicles which had been modified.
Most vehicles should have been modified by now, but if in doubt, the only way to be sure is to remove the timing cover and check. The early setup has shoulders on the tensioner wheel, the later version has a plain tensioner wheel and shoulders on the crank gear.
